Beef Gives Chicken Some Healthy Competition
Until recently, if you were considering losing weight or improving your diet, beef would be one of the first things crossed off your list. Steaks, hamburgers, and other cuts of beef had much too high a fat content to remain on the meal plan of anyone wishing to slim down or lower their fat intake. That high fat content was due to cattle being raised on corn and grain products to fattened cattle quickly. As more and more ranchers return to pasture feeding, however, consumers today are buying more grass-fed meat and finding it to be just as tasty as corn-fed beef but with less calories and fat content. A cut of grass-fed beef contains the same amount of fat as a piece of skinless chicken. Thus, beef is now giving chicken some healthy competition when it comes to supporting a healthy diet.
